Our Professional Development Services

Our on-site one-day workshops are the perfect starting point. Delivered by experienced K-8 educators, these sessions combine engaging instruction, collaborative activities, and real classroom strategies teachers can use right away. 

 

Teachers Will:

  • Learn the Empowering Writers methodology through modeled lessons and multi-sensory activities.
  • Collaborate and reflect with peers.
  • Gain tools and strategies that target writing deficits and weaknesses.
  • Examine student writing through a new lens and understand the sequence of instruction needed.

 

Our Customized Coaching Services Include:

Coaching ELA

Modeled Lessons

An Empowering Writers (EW) coach plans and delivers a live modeled lesson in the classroom for the purposes of observation, followed by a debriefing, Q&A and “next steps” action plan for participating teachers.

Observation and Feedback

Participating teachers will be observed by an EW coach in a live classroom setting and provided with annotated feedback and recommendations.

Resource Integration

Sessions that guide teachers to incorporate EW resources with other reading materials in meeting weekly standards and pacing. Discussions are guided to promote the thinking required to produce targeted lessons that maximize instructional time and resources.

 

Teacher Training

Student Samples

Student-generated samples are analyzed through EW rubrics, followed by recommendations for actionable feedback and “next steps” for classroom instruction.

Test Prep

Teachers are guided in their preparation for state assessments. Analyzing student exemplars through the lens of EW strategies leads to the intentional selection of powerful lessons that will target student needs in order to achieve desired results.

Implementation Support

Ongoing conversations and classroom visits with EW coaches and administrators help ensure instructional consistency, support accountability and highlight student achievement.
