6 Best Writing Lessons Ever

Planning the school year and beyond!

At Empowering Writers we are ready for all scenarios and prepared to meet your instructional needs. Our high quality professional development is available in-person or virtually.

Over the last few months, our team has been providing Virtual Professional Development, distance learning lessons, and customized trainings for our district partners. Since the end of March, over 6,000 teachers and 30,000 students have utilized our distance learning lessons. In addition, we have delivered virtual PD for hundreds of teachers and multiple school districts making Empowering Writers the number one choice for distance learning writing instruction among educators.

It’s also worth noting, Empowering Writers' Writing-Reading connection is the most effective way to teach writing and create strategic readers while improving reading comprehension.

Our Instructional Team can customize the following services for your school or district:

  1. School or District Training - in-person or virtually
  2. Customized District Guides to Align Reading and Writing Instruction
  3. Distance Learning Student Assignments

We are currently planning and scheduling virtual or in-person workshops customized to the specific needs of your staff, time, and budget.

If in-person workshops are not an option, we have Virtual Professional Development. These engaging sessions are presented by the EW Instructional Team and include opportunities for small group work, discussion and reflection, and a downloadable guidebook. Here are more details on our Virtual Professional Development.

Customized District Resources

This past year we've been working with districts to align their new ELAR resources, the district's pacing/scope & sequence, with the writing instruction. In most cases, we've customized a specific district digital guide by grade level for teachers 2-8.

Whether your district is using a popular reading program or follows the district's own scope and sequence, we can align Empowering Writers' instruction to the required pacing and streamline the resources.

The alignment of reading and writing simplifies the implementation of ELA instruction and takes away the guesswork out of lesson movement.

Download "Equipping Teachers with the Right Tools" Checklist to see if your teachers can benefit from a customized ELA resource.

Distance Learning Student Assignments

We’ve created, and in some cases redesigned, writing assignments to assign directly to students who may be in an “at home” learning environment. The Distance Learning Student Assignments are a wide-range of lessons and activities covering vocabulary building, narrative and expository writing, reading activities, editing & revising, and "off screen" activities for K-8. All lessons can be found within your HUB digital guide.

Distance Learning Student Assignments can be assigned to a wide range of school platforms (Google Classroom, Schoology, Office 365, Canvas, etc.)

"It's no surprise but the resources you are putting together are AMAZING! Thank you for all of your work as we try to wrap our heads around a digital learning platform. As always, the EW team has exceeded our expectations! Thanks again for all you continue to do to support teaching and learning."

~ Maureen F. | Director, Language Arts / Social Studies
