WHO: Teachers, Grades 3-6
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
This workshop is geared for any teacher responsible for teaching editing and revising for grades 3-6. Empowering Writers will provide the “how” for delivering direct instruction in revising and editing. Experience how specific instruction of grammar and mechanics brings clarity to all forms of communication. Come away with so much more than just “skill and drill”!
HOW THE DAY BREAKS OUT:
Participants will:
- Recognize the movement of skills through grade levels
- Connect skills to content area topics/themes for powerful applications
- Understand the parts of speech as the building blocks of language
- Explore hands-on-activities designed to make learning grammar engaging
- Learn effective strategies for revising sentences
- Utilize student work for authentic application
- Build instructional confidence through focused skills
Workshop Requirements:
Each participant is required to have the corresponding Empowering Writers’ teaching manual (digital guide or printed manual) for this workshop.
