Here is a great way this kindergarten teacher is having book discussions with her students and teaching genre
Make a copy of the book cover, laminate, and paper clip it to the outside of your read aloud. Then after reading and discussing the salient skills of the genre, students sort it into an Expository or Narrative pocket chart. These are then filed back away with the books to use again next year! I loved this idea and her students did too!
What a great idea for any classroom! I’ll post pics of mine soon! Are you needing ideas for narrative and expository books to share in your classroom? Download a comprehensive side by side book list now by clicking on Literature Connections!
