"The Big Hairy Giant"

What worked?:
• The author did a nice attempt of the Magic of Three. Hints and reactions were all included. The use of “Red Flag Phrases” would help the suspense read more fluently.
• The author included a description of the giant. He/she used some great vocabulary in this description. The use of several sentence starters would help this author organize his thoughts and pay close attention to important character development. Comprehensive Narrative Guide – p.88-89
Suggestions:
• A description of the setting would help set the stage to where the character is. The beginning seems a bit rushed since the author jumped right into the Magic of Three at the start. A great way to start is to put the character in the setting doing something and then ask: What do you see? What do you hear? What do you feel? Comprehensive Narrative Guide – p.88-92
• The Main Event is missing in this story. Comprehensive Narrative Guide - p. 255-266
• The use of “Just a Dream” ending is a let down to the reader. Important things to include are what do you remember from this event, how do you feel about it, or what do you hope. Again, sentence starters would help get this author started with an extended ending. Comprehensive Narrative Guide – p.305-315
