Seasonal Lesson - The Little Scarecrow Boy

Nothing is more satisfying than using a good picture book as a vehicle for capturing the imagination of your young student writers while teaching some of the important pre-writing concepts which serve as the foundation for narrative writing!

Objective:

  • Summarize a character/problem/solution narrative and identify key story elements:  main character, story problem, solution
  • Students learn that facial expressions and body language show how a person or being is feeling.  The students will write several sentences that show what the word fierce looks like through facial descriptions.
