Using entertaining picture books as vehicles for capturing the imagination of your young student writers in one way to teach some of the important pre-writing concepts that serve as the foundation for narrative writing! 

 Objective: 

• Summarize a character/problem/solution narrative and identify key story elements:  main character, story problem, solution
• Students learn that facial expressions and body language show how a person or being is feeling.  The students will write several sentences that show what the word scared looks like through facial descriptions.
