Who wants to be on Oprah?
Submitted by Barbara Mariconda on Tue, 02/23/2010 - 12:06

Doesn’t everyone dream of being on the Oprah show?

True confession – since Dea and I started over a dozen years ago, one of our favorite, repeated fantasies goes something like this:

“We should be on Oprah…” she says.

“Yeah,” I answer,  “She’d love us.  We represent all her favorite things…”

(The refrain of the old Sound of Music song by the same title begins in my mind.)

Dea picks up the thread… "She loves children….and teachers…”

I add my two cents, “Books! authors!”

“Women entrepreneurs!” Dea says, triumphantly.

And then I throw in the kicker.  “We’ve dedicated our lives to empowering the next generation of authors!”

In my mind, at that moment, we’re shoe-ins. I see our guest teachers and their fresh-faced students sharing their amazing writing with the entire world. Oprah is delighted, excited, and blown away by these little empowered ones.  We generously donate our Comprehensive Guides to Oprah’s school in South Africa. Every teacher in the audience receives a copy of our latest book under their studio audience chair.  I look less than the ten pounds heavier on TV than expected…

Okay, let’s not get carried away.  But seriously…

It’s true.  I believe Ms. Winfrey would celebrate what we do together. And, I believe in miracles, especially those that are rooted in the reality of hard work, good intentions, and the karma of lifting up and empowering others.

So…who wants to join us on the Oprah Winfrey Show?  The clock is ticking, so if we want to make it happen, the time is now. In our March newsletter, in our lesson of the month, read how we can give it our best shot!

And hey, you never know…stranger things have happened.  Pass this along to every empowered teacher you know!  Let’s get the buzz going!
