This is the first Empowering Writers' blog, and wow! I have to say, as a relative techno-phobe I was dragged here and turned into a blogger kicking and screaming!
(That’s a bit of an exaggeration, but not that much!)
But, the writer in me won out - the appeal of sitting here sharing my thoughts on teaching writing, on books, on my own writing life, reflections on the classroom…well, all that made a convert out of me. Between this and Facebook (are you an EW Fan yet?!) I hope to connect to all of you on a regular basis. (We’re on Youtube as well! More to come on that front!)
I have plenty I’d like to say, and am really looking forward to this forum. But, what about you? EW was formed, built, and shaped by the input and needs of teachers. This new blog and website will make our goal of continually reading and responding to the pulse of the writing teacher that much more effective and dynamic.
So, journey through the site. Take advantage of everything from seasonal lessons and annotated student writing samples to our research and data, recommended reading, weekly tips and daily “Quick Writes”. Dealing with RtI, newsletters to keep parents in the loop, new products and services – it’s all here!
Then, tell us what else you need. Need help with a challenging student? Just ask. Need a new product – what is it? (That’s how all our resources came to be!) Dying to celebrate a success? Air a gripe? This is the place!
As the professionals who influence the next generation of young authors, EW salutes you, is inspired by you, and strives to hear your stories!
